The Greatest PorcFest Ever Stolen

Monday, July 7th, 2014   Submitted by Davi Barker

I just got back from a highly successful east coast tour which included both speaking at Bitcoin In The Beltway, and vending at the eleventh annual Porcupine Freedom Festival, both of which were highly lucrative. I’ve said many times that Bitcoin is a tool for personal freedom, and I’ve also said that freedom requires personal responsibility. So, when Bitcoin goes missing while I’m at the helm I have no one to blame but myself.

On September 10, Bitcoin Not Bombs launched a crowd-funding campaign through to raise 47btc to give hoodies to the homeless in time for Winter. There are only 10 days left in that Bitcoin Starter campaign, but there are a variety of other ways to contribute to the project. One of the often unspoken goals of Bitcoin Not Bombs is good PR for bitcoin, to make it more difficult for the enemies of monetary freedom to characterize the currency and the community as solely concerned with illicit activities, and to do a little guerrilla marketing for Bitcoin in a downtrodden demographic that could really benefit from this new technology, and would make natural Agorists.

Fr33 Aid Abandons Non-Profit Tax Status in Favor of Bitcoin

Monday, April 15th, 2013   Submitted by Davi Barker

Fr33Aid_200x200Exciting news from the world of Bitcoin this Tax Cattle Day. Today is the day, with fear in our heart, we submit to the human farmers who fleece us under threat of violence. But today Fr33 Aid is making the courageous move of declaring their financial independence by willfully and publicly severing their ties with the IRS, forsaking all the banking privileges that entails, and announcing themselves as an entirely bitcoin based organization. As far as I know they are the first charitable organization to do this. I hope you can appreciate how radical this is.
