I think this is the future. In the absence of the state, we won't see radical individualism so much as a resurgence of communitarian and national/tribal values.

I think we'll see both, depending on the desires of different people. The more individualistically inclined will migrate to venues where they can live more individualistic lives, and the more communitarian types will join collectives and so forth. At least I'd expect so.

I agree with the premise of the OP.  However, I would express it differently.   I would say:  Until we see a resurgence of radical communitarian and tribal values, the statesmen will always over-power the individual.
