When I read it, it didn't seem like that big of a deal.  It said the post office has always offered this service for a fee.  Amazon is willing to pay the fee.

^I think that's one of the main points, though. The fact that Amazon is now willing to pay for the delivery fees reflects how utterly bankrupt the U.S. Postal Service has become.

How so?  That isn't a new or unique service.  The story is more about Amazon offering a new service through their cheap shipper more than anything.
