Specifically, I found a copy of Uncle Sam, the Monopoly Man by William C Wooldridge on archive.org, but I can't read it. I tried downloading some software for reading Daisy files, (basically ebooks made to be read aloud by the computer,) but this particular Daisy file is encrypted and needs other software or devices that seem to cost money.

So, I just wondered if anyone knew of free software that could read such files, or knew of where a free pdf of the book might be found?

(I know I probably sound cheap here, but I'm kind of broke, so actually buying a hard-copy of the book will have to wait.)

I had not. Silly Victor. Tongue The only one it gives me is daisy-player though, and that program gives me an "Aborted (core dumped)" message if I either navigate into the extracted folder and enter "daisy-player ." or navigate into the above directory and enter "daisy-player unclesammonopoly00wool_daisy". So I'm assuming that one can't play encrypted Daisy files.

Don't know. Never used it myself. Did you unzip the file first?

Yep.

It looks like I'd need a government distributed key for it to work though anyway. Bit troublesome. I couldn't find any other free copies anywhere, including piratebay, so I guess I'll have to leave it for another day.

Hi Victor,

How about this PDF version from The Open Library?  https://openlibrary.org/books/OL5076590M/Uncle_Sam_the_monopoly_man

They even have their own Daisy version. https://openlibrary.org/books/OL5076590M/Uncle_Sam_the_monopoly_man/daisy

Hope this helps!
