Fixed USB drives at various locations.  Thought a few here might be interested.

My first thought is that this looks like one of those "really cool, in theory" exercises that is just too vulnerable to a few high-tech assholes with viruses, and a few low-tech assholes with bricks.  The results are likely to be similar to free public restrooms.  Hope I'm wrong.

No way I'm plugging a random USB drive into my computer.    I wouldn't even plug it into any computer on my network.     I feel twitchy when I buy a brand new one and plug it in for the first time.    Screw that.

Nice idea in theory, though.    Unfortunately, the theory... like so many others... doesn't account for the existence of assholes.

Is this because you are using a P.O.S. Operating System?  8-)
I have no fears plugging (my configuration of) Debian into anything.

Malware was the first concern I had reading about it.  Still, it's a very interesting idea.  If you limited the people who knew about a network of these, it'd be easy to pass a good bit of information.

Cool! Classic Spy-trick, but neat that they're using it for a kind of public file-sharing. I agree that malware would be an issue. I'm not sure what the advantages are supposed to be over, say, pirate bay (where malware is also an issue) or some other kind of anonymous and encrypted file-sharing over the internet. Perhaps in some way it could be more anonymous, but that depends on where the drop is located, and obviously this particular setup is broadcasting the locations of these. Depends on the circumstances I guess.
