I've been wanting to get rid of the Google Ads on my website for a long time. But it's not easy finding long-term sponsors, such as Amagi Metals. And frankly, I haven't been trying that hard either.

I've been thinking about the idea of going on the Silk Road and offering ad space on Daily Anarchist that link directly to sellers on the Silk Road, and the banner images could be of things like heroin, cannabis, X, you name it!

Could you imagine how many people would do a complete double take to see advertisements of illegal narcotics on the clear net? They would be totally compelled to click. I'm thinking it's a money maker.

What are your thoughts?

Morally I obviously think it'd be awesome.

Practically, the DEA would probably take the site down  Undecided

But hey, it's your property, your choice.

I'm fairly ignorance about the process, would a click immediately get the clicker to the site, or would the clicker have to install software (TOR, etc.) first?

The click wouldn't take them anywhere unless they were running the Tor Broswer.

Do you think the Feds would allow that?

I'm cool with it ethically and think it'd be a step in the right direction. However this being one of my favourite sites I'd hate to see it be stolen from you...

People link to the silk road all the time. And people put up pictures of cannabis and heroin. Why couldn't somebody link to a specific profile on Silk Road with a picture of cannabis?

Unless I'm mistaken, a shadow-net website can't be taken down as easily (relatively speaking) as one can a regular web server. So your advertisers would be safe, but you not so much.

Correct me if I'm wrong, mind. I haven't delved into TOR and whatnot.

EDIT: Also, posting a link to something is a bit different from being paid to advertise.

EDIT 2: Just so you know, I'm not trying to be a downer; I'm just saying that if you go through with it you need to be prepared to have the site shut down with a court order over night.

I think it is a good idea. However I think it would be prudent that you create a "mirror" of the site and forum on Tor that way if the clearnet version is taken down people can still access the tor version.

In addition to everything others have said, I have a question:
How would you make money doing that?   I assume you're making at least some pocket change from Adwords, but linking to Silk Road would earn you zero (beyond some unwanted government attention).    So are you saying you want to give away some free ad space to Silk Road vendors, or is there some kind of affiliate program that I'm not aware of?

If you're just going to give away some ad space for free, then I'd suggest putting some links to sites that explain TOR and sites that explain Bitcoin first, as an understanding of both of those is a prerequisite to buying anything on the Silk Road.   At the very least, split your ads between those three (TOR, Bitcoin, and SR).

The vendors would pay him for the space would be my guess.

Would they pay for space, or for clicks?  You might not get many clicks.

Go for it man. If they take it down, then it's all the more reason for you to put this site on the darknet.

"Practically, the DEA would probably take the site down "

This, also probably better to link to a site that links to the user to that there is a buffer. Furthermore, $ received from this venture COULD be linked to drug money which makes the site (and shit you buy with the $) up for outright seizure.

I'd prolly be smarter to get/develop silk road providers (growers) from the ancap/voluntaryist community, form a group,  and use some of the proceeds directly but with less openness. IE don't announce it lol.

I have seriously considered LED hemp farming myself using hydroponics and whatnot, but I doubt I will go forward with it for a number of reasons.
