I'm a big fan of the idea of Wikileaks. I love the idea of a global whistleblower organization. Frankly, I don't know much about the specific organization Wikileaks. Are they really on the up and up? Are they a ploy to trap the most sensitive whisteblowers? I have no idea about the inner machinations of the organization, so I don't necessarily vouch for them. But I do vouch for what it appears they are doing.

Also, I am curious to know what Julian Assange's political views are. Would he consider himself a socialist? A libertarian? An anarcho-capitalist or anarcho-syndicalist? Perhaps he will fill us in on this one of these days. For now, a short interview with the founder of Wikileaks. Enjoy.

Wikileaks is an immensely important organization. I really hope our government doesn't find a way to shut them down.

I didn't even know about wikileaks...nice video and article. I love the idea that nation states everywhere want to see this stopped, but they are powerless to do anything. The internet is levelling the playing field.
I checked out the site, and it's great. Gives me hope for humanity.

I think wikileaks needs a makeover. It's kind of ugly and finding archives seems cumbersome.

Fair enough. I tried searching for 9/11 documents and found it difficult to find anything. Maybe the search engine needs to be redone or the documents tagged better? If someone was really into it though and just checked it on a regular basis, you could always see the new ones that are up, and save the ones you wanted. Those that I did read made it clear that it's the real deal. They've got good stuff, but it almost seems like they need more people if they want to keep up with all the new leaks and the tagging that needs to be done. They need some way of getting more money!

I think my original question may have just been answered. I was looking into Crypto-anarchism, which is interesting to learn, and then I stumbled upon Cypherpunks, who ARE crypto-anarchists, and found that Julian Assange is one of the more famous Cypherpunks around. Check out this fascinating article. I'm happy to learn these guys are on our side.

It's so coincidental that you linked the cypherpunks wiki page, Seth. I just came across that page and learned about the movement earlier this week. I've been following Wikileaks since 2007 and can say that they seem to be the real deal. I don't know if Assange would characterize himself as an anarchist but his professed views on true freedom of information certainly pass the smell test for what an anarchist would believe about information.
