What's your take on the Bilderburg group? Conspiracy, or just some people meeting for no real reason?

I can't claim to know anything. The only real sources I find on it come from Alex Jones or his worshipers. The number of facts about the organization that I am confident about?: 0.

I've done more research into the Council on Foriegn Relations, which is the U.S. equivalent of the organization. Most of my research has come directly from Alex, although I did read a well documented book on the organization a few yrs. ago.

here's my conclusions on the group. The Bilderberg group has publicly admitted that they control and influence global events. A 2009 interview with oneofmthe members confirmed this. From the standpoint of global, international influence, the Bilderberg group has created factions and ideas that support the end of global sovereignty and support the existence of a superstate. The EU is one example. The EU has destroyed European sovereignty and created a superpower that has thrown most of the nations into the slave chains of debt. Historically, the Bilderbergs were the ones that experimented with the creation of the the EU. They saw it as a prelude to the creation of a global superpower that could, theoretically, be more easily controlled. However, we see that failing with talks of Greece leaving the global power.

Even if you don't believe in the conspiracies, you have to understand that the group, by U.S. law, is illegal. Under the creation of the Logan Act, the United States forbids government officials from meeting in secret and discussing political motives outside of the eye of the American public.

Alex currently has a lot of great articles over at Infowars regarding the event. In fact, he's in Virginia covering the event right now.

"The idea that powerful people might have similar interests and might plan together is almost shunned." - George Carlin

You have politicians, Federal Reserve and Wall Street bankers, and the heads of the major news media all meeting together in one place. Yeah, they're wanting to make life easier for the little guy huh?

Okay, if anyone has any information about this group that doesn't come from Alex and friends (Ventura etc), please link it here. If anyone is to convince me that this is real, it has to come from elsewhere. You can start by proving to me that it exists and that US officials attend.

U.S officials have been attending the event for yrs. Volker, presidential candidates--most of who you consider higher-ups within the hierarchy of power go to these events. Here's a list of members from Lew Rockwell.com:

I guess LRC is a little more credible, but I'm still skeptical. I did check out the official website. I don't know if it's legit or not. Has the event's name ever been used by someone in the MSM? Even if not in a bad way, has its existence been recognized by non libertarians?

The John Birch Society has documented the CFR better than anyone, and for decades.

There's a great book on the CFR called "Shadows of Power". Pick it up when you have the chance.

Let me sum up the Bilderberg Group in another fashion. The Logan Act was passed because the government did not want foreign government influencing the policies of the United States. With Bilderberg group, that's basically what you have. Secret meeting in which presidents and wars are decided is not, under any circumstances, good idea. People from Clinton to Obama have been chosen by these people, and wars ranging from the invasion in Libya have been chosen as well. That is something that every American should be worried about.

Okay, so let's summarize people who talk about Bilderberg:
-Alex and company
-LRC
-Birch Society
-Left wing guy on youtube
-Some journalist known for following conspiracy theories

Now, I'm not trying to say all these people are wrong. But I'm taking a very skeptical stance. Is there anyone who could be considered "normal" that has ever mentioned Bilderberg by name. Even if it's not talking about conspiracies, just someone to admit that this meeting happens. Is it covered in the main stream local news wherever the event takes place?

Edit: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4290944.stm
Okay, all things considered, I grant that it probably does exist.

Is the existence of something like this bad for freedom? Probably.
Are they sharing tactics to control people? Probably.
Can they install a world government? No, because if it was feasible it would have been done.

They're way too secretive to just be a normal international relations group. But to say that they are planning some sort of world domination is a little extreme, though it certainly isn't impossible when you look at the attendees.
