2  General Category / General Discussion / Re: 20 states creating petitions to secede from the U.S. on: November 13, 2012, 11:56:27 PM
Last I saw said something like people in 47 states have now signed petitions. Of course, I think given the state of things that its painting a bulls-eye on your forehead and saying "Please, imprison me!"

Thank God, no. The closest I get are enabling assholes who can't think for themselves.

I hate to sound pessimistic, but anyone wanna take bets on when this will happen more overtly here in the US?

Heh, it would be interesting if he blasted all the Statist assholes in his last address. But yes, I do think he needs to state loudly and clearly that the ship of state is sinking and at this point it will go down and likely drag all of us with it. If for no other reason that maybe, in hundreds of years, he will be viewed much as how we view Cicero or other great philosopher's of the past.

7  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Occupy Wall Street campaigners buy-up debt to abolish it on: November 10, 2012, 07:48:42 PM
Okay,

who the fuck said anything about "obligations"? This is entirely voluntary. Furthermore, look around wiseguys, the Banks ain't lending to schmoes anyway. They're only lending to each other and it will continue that way until systemic collapse catches up.

Occupy Wall Street campaigners buy-up debt to abolish it

Quote
A group of campaigners linked to the Occupy Wall Street movement is buying-up distressed loans for pennies in the pound and cancelling them to "liberate debtors at random".

The Rolling Jubilee project is seeking donations to help it buy-up distressed debts, including student loans and outstanding medical bills, and then wipe the slate clean by writing them off.

Individuals or companies can buy distressed debt from lenders at knock-down prices if it the borrower is in default or behind with payments and are then free to do with it as they see fit, including cancelling it free of charge.

As a test run the group spent $500 on distressed debt, buying $14,000 worth of outstanding loans and pardoning the debtors. They are now looking to expand their experiment nationwide and are asking people to donate money to the cause.

David Rees, one of the organisers behind the project, writes on his blog: "This is a simple, powerful way to help folks in need - to free them from heavy debt loads so they can focus on being productive, happy and healthy.

"Now, after many consultations with attorneys, the IRS, and our moles in the debt-brokerage world, we are ready to take the Rolling Jubilee program live and nationwide, buying debt in communities that have been struggling during the recession."

I think this is an AWESOME idea! This is the best way to reach out to Statists and teach them that, yes, Mutual Aid is a 1000x better than simply turning to the government. Its EXACTLY what we talk about and I think it would be easy to tip these people to our way of thinking if we reached out.

It's not the masses that worry me. It's the masses with a lynch mob mentality targeting us for a bloodletting.

Ayep, when the wheels come off the wagon I imagine either the Statist asswipes in power will go after us or simply unleash their minions.

Heh, ya know it never ceases to amaze me that we, as a rule, are far more "environmentally conscious" than many supposed Greenies....
12  General Category / General Discussion / Re: FINALLY! A social anarchist's definition of privilege on: November 08, 2012, 01:35:38 AM
Holy Christ, but that was painful to read. I sort of understand what is being talked about (privilege), but I would love to point out what is obviously lost on the author: social anarcism is predicated on privilege. Seeing everyone in groups balkanizes and CREATES privilege.
13  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Anarchists "see both parties as the problem" threaten conventions on: November 07, 2012, 11:28:21 PM
Since my job is Private Security, I got to see up close and personal the RNC (my company works the Tampa Convention Center among other venues). I did NOT like walking through a fucking perimeter that looked like something from The Green Zone in Iraq where there were people armed with automatic rifles. Thankfully when they put me out at Liberty (sic) Plaza, I was put in the back away from the guests/dignitaries. Otherwise, I might have shared my thoughts with them how they were a bunch of bottom feeding scum and did not deserve to use the term Tea Party. The Police-State presence during the RNC was sickening and I hated having to walk through it. I consider what I do a real job unlike the government leaches that, but for their monopoly, would have to do what I do: protect private property. Angry

My mother is one who whenever I point out some bullshit says "I disagree" when I say "why" she replies "I just do" I mean it is truly pathetic. I mean she's admitted to me that she can't counter my claims but she still disagrees with me one of her favourite's is "That's your opinion" in a dismissive way. And I'm on good terms with her...

Yea, I've got a roommate that is very similar in attitude. I find alot of times that this sort of 'well, its just the way it is so don't bother' attitude is common in people of a certain age, namely Baby Boomers (my roommate) and The Great Depression generation. For them, government was it. And these are people that rail against the government but when I offer actual solutions, they turn it off. Like I said, its a sort of Stockholm Syndrome....

They believe it will personally benefit them.

That, and alot of them are miserable jackasses and misery loves company. Its a sick sort of Stockholm Syndrome.
