Russia Today

I agree with Seth. I would much rather pay a fee to a HOA that I knew about before I purchased my home and moved into it. It is much easier to vote someone off the board when you only have to gather less than a hundred votes to make a difference.

So I received an email informing me of the annual shareholders meeting for Newmont Mining and instructions for a proxy vote for the Board of Directors. This, along with my homeowners association board, are two instances where I can and probably should vote since I have agreed to the process ahead of time. I hardly ever do though. Does anyone else here vote in these things?

It's all fun and games until you're declared a unique form of photographical terrorist and then killed.

My guess is that it's fake, but it's still funny as hell.

More debt based currency. I don't see a need for it, but the market will decide.
22  General Category / General Discussion / Re: The Paleo Diet on: February 29, 2012, 07:12:51 AM
I have done the primal diet before and it is challenging for me since I'm addicted to junk food. My personal best is about 2 weeks without processed foods. I felt better eating clean, but there was always that small tinge of not being completely satisfied after I ate a meal. My thoughts are that I could be hit by a bus tomorrow, so I don't want to deprive myself of good food. I'm sure this line of thinking isn't smart, but I enjoy working out so I don't carry any extra weight around anyways.

I have also quit using body soap and shampoo when showering as well and did notice an improvement with dandruff once my scalp got used to just being cleaned with hot water. I still use hand soap when washing my hands after using the restroom or after work when they are really dirty and greasy.

For good tips about the paleo diet check out www.marksdailyapple.com . There's a lot of useful information there about going primal. If you're looking to make a complete lifestyle change www.crossfit.com is good as well.
23  General Category / General Discussion / openwatch for police encounters on: February 24, 2012, 05:34:15 PM
openwatch.net I stumbled across this website as I was looking for an app that would allow me to post live video to YouTube. This is exactly what I wanted it for, but I still think there are some limitations as the video still has to be uploaded and isn't live. I have also tried Qik, but the problem is that if the phone is taken from me, it is possible to delete the video and remove it from the YouTube channel on the phone. I was looking for an app that would allow me to record directly to YouTube and not be able to be deleted via the phone. Any suggestions?
24  General Category / General Discussion / Re: How to respond to a statist who uses cases like this: on: February 23, 2012, 11:01:02 PM
I agree with Seth. The fault lies with shitty parenting and stupid kids. I ran a half marathon this past weekend on the beach and saw what I assumed to be was a pair of sisters around this girl's age. The conditions for the run were normal for this area in this time of year; chilly, windy, and raining. Around mile 9 I saw one of the girls ahead of me (yes, I was getting beaten a ten year old in a race, fuck you:) ) doing a combo run/walk. When I came up beside her she was crying and shivering. I asked if she was okay and she said she was fine, but obviously was distraught. I simply told her that she needed to keep running to stay warm and went on my way. The temperature was in the high 50's if I had to guess, so there was no danger of hypothermia if she simply kept running. I felt bad for a second, but then thought that if the kid wanted to do the race, then she must learn the consequences of long distance running. I thought that the parents were probably stupid for letting a child that young run, but her sister pushed through the misery and kept on going, so it can be done. There is a fine line between teaching kids to rough it and not pushing too hard.

What's really sad is that the article states the chief is in charge of a four man department. If these folks are really that upset, gather ten people together and take over for fuck's sake. I find it hard to sympathize with these people when they are afraid of a department of 5 turds.
26  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Vets show support for RP by marching to the White House. Ancap Vets?! on: February 23, 2012, 09:41:16 AM
I doubt very many of them are ancaps since they are attending a political rally. There are a few of us floating around, as being a cog in the warfighting machine helps to wake you up to the reality of the situation. My experience has been that most vets still support and will always support the military regardless of what they do, even if they turn on the civilian population.
27  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Intellectual Property on: February 15, 2012, 11:22:02 AM
So what is everyones take on trademarks and infringement? Most of us believe that IP does not exist, but I would think that most of us are also against fraud as well. If I use my own property to make "fake" Nike shoes for example, wouldn't I be defrauding my customers who thought they were buying "genuine" Nikes?
28  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Detroit Citizens organizing into private police forces on: February 15, 2012, 11:18:54 AM
What cracks me up about the story is that people are applying for licenses to purchase and/or carry firearms, as if the piece of paper is some sort of protection from the government turds. I carry a weapon at all times (except at my job where my employer forbids it) and I sure as hell don't ask permission of anyone. If the police or any other bureaucrat wants to lock you up, they will simply invent a reason anyways so why bother with the license?
29  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Cowardice and government on: February 15, 2012, 11:14:49 AM
I would say Cynical asshole, but then again I'm a cynical asshole too since I agree with you. Tongue

But anyway the problem with such thinking is that, if that's the case then how the hell is a voluntary society possible? Or do you expect that in the "coming collapse" that most of the people who die off, will be the ones who prefer to use violence, either directly or indirectly, in their dealings with other people?

I don't think they will "die off" so much as they will be eliminated by others who aren't afraid to match force with force.

I'm hopeful that the coming economic collapse will shed light on the fact that those who work for "government" do so at the barrel of a gun. Maybe when people realize this then they will be able to figure out what real voluntary cooperation entails. Until then, I try and convince as many people as possible to always arms themselves. I'm a firm believer in the quote that an armed society is a polite society.
30  General Category / General Discussion / Cowardice and government on: February 15, 2012, 08:52:17 AM
I have a pretty low opinion of most of the human race. I think that most people do prefer to use violence in dealing with others, regardless of what they will admit to your face, but are afraid of the ramifications of using force themselves. They prefer to have a "government" so that they don't have to use the gun themselves and risk injury.

Am I just being a cynical asshole or does anyone else think this is the case?
