I agree that the arbitrary "team" means nothing. Anyone who trains knows that your real team is composed of the people who sweat and bleed alongside you day in and day out. She's probably right that he's not a good role model though. TUF is designed to promote the UFC brand and get ratings. Outlandish behavior is the norm and from what I have heard, it is expected if you are on the show.
Yeah John is a character! He's pretty funny, on top of being a total beast, and his conditioning my god when he ran a conditioning class you would puke... Anyway the reason I brought this up is because I heard today that he is going to be the main event sometime in January. Don't know if that's a for sure thing, but tis what I heard. Hey you're in Austin TX right? Just north of Houston.

I listened to a few minutes of his explanations and the follow up rebuttal and then just shut it off. He doesn't seem to get past the "I don't understand the hitting" point and I didn't feel like wasting 20 minutes of my time to see if he would. As someone who's been in the martial arts for most of my life, I can say that for me it has nothing to do with past trauma. The world is a dangerous place and knowing how to defend myself with my hands and feet if I get separated from my firearm provides me with piece of mind. Anyone who voluntarily practices martial arts is not violating the NAP so what does he care? There are people like myself that don't violate the NAP, but quite frankly do enjoy the violence of getting in the cage with someone and beating each other up. I've been dropped with shots in training before and will roll around in agony thinking my kidney or liver has just been ruptured while laughing the during the pain because I know I should have covered up. Some of us are just wired differently than others. Shameless plug for anyone in the Houston area: www.anarchyjiujitsu.com

A good match to go with the paleo lifestyle is CrossFit. I've been doing it for almost 4 months now and am totally addicted. My wife has been doing it with me, along with her very paleo diet she has lost several inches and seen huge gains in her strength and endurance. I would highly recommend both to anyone.

Are you going to be teaching the original Jiu Jitsu or the Brazilian kind? What about Judo? Do you know any Boxing, or wrestling?
I'm starting out with BJJ and I'll branch off into MMA if anyone shows interest. I'm going to be running it out of a CrossFit school, so I will probably be attracting the athletes to start off.

I plan on starting my own martial arts school soon and want to mix the anarchy theme into it. I'm leaning heavily towards naming it Anarchy Martial Arts and using the circle A as the logo with the school name encircling it. Any thoughts?
If anyone here can create a good logo, I need the help, as my artistic skills are nil.

on: May 31, 2012, 08:36:50 PM

UPDATE, May 31, 2012: At the request of the Montgomery County District Attorney, Judge Moriarity signed an order on May 30 that dismisses the contempt of court charges against Tran, the Houston Chronicle reported. Once Tran completes the paperwork, her conviction for truancy will be expunged from her record, Fox News reported.
In the days since her story became known, the public has donated thousands of dollars to Tran, according to Fox News. One group alone, the Louisiana Children's Education Alliance, has collected more than $90,000 for the hardworking high-schooler.
