What are ya'lls thoughts on going nomad? The more I think about it the more I wonder if it is possible to be free in today's world whilst being rooted to one location. Increasingly I find the idea of the Sailfarm to be appealing and if I find that since I have lived the majority of my life in the desert that the ocean is not for me maybe I'll get a van and do something similar with it.

I like the idea of it, and I'd love to do it (being a hobo has always been a dream), but my old lady would never approve of it.

...maybe I'll get a van and do something similar with it.

Unfortunately that means you will likely hit every checkpoint there is to hit.  On a more practical side, it also means you are an easier target to access.  Anyone can just walk up and mess with your van.

So what do you think would be better than a van for a land based nomad. Maybe getting up my survival skills and back packing the world?

You could hitch a ride on trains Smiley

Although I think they check for hobos at every stop. Not sure on that.

There probably isn't a better option.  Just be aware of the downsides of whatever you pick.  Blending in with whatever the locals use might help somewhat.

There is a difference between traveling, and stealing a ride.

It's a choice and way of life. I think some people are cut out for it and others are not.
