I have always been against pharmaceuticals to alleviate depression and other mental maladies. I have somebody very close to me that is on anti-depressants and before this person went on them I gave a very impassioned speech, laying out all of the different reasons why anti-depressants were bullshit. It didn't work.
The person I am talking about has been on anti-depressants for a couple of years now and claims they are helping. I know it sounds arrogant of me to say that they aren't, but I believe that anti-depressants put the person in a mental prison that they cannot get themselves out of. Depression is a natural human emotion. When your life is in the shitter there is absolutely nothing wrong with being sad about it. When you take anti-depressants you are essentially forcing your brain to accept the fact that your life is shit. Anti-depressants really are very much like the allopathic response to medicine. When there is a symptom(depression) the allopath will attack the symptom. The homeopath, on the other hand, sees the symptom as your body's natural response to a problem. Instead of attacking the symptom, the homeopath will attack what is causing the symptom.
If a person is suffering from depression, it is usually because of one's life conditions such as, loneliness, overweight, poverty, physical health, etc. When a person is depressed, the proper response is to fix whatever is causing the depression.
I actually suffered from depression for three years of my life. It was really bad and I was often told that I should get meds. I knew that it was bullshit and had the sense of mind to attack what was causing my depression, not the symptom. I thank God that I was blessed to be able to fix the problem. The depression went away without psychiatry or medication.
The fact is that there is a lot of depression in society. What the people need to do is figure out what is causing their depression and fix it. Of course, there are forces at work that do not want the average Joe to figure out what is causing their depression, so they brainwash us into getting drugged.
I don't know what the numbers are, but the number of people in America who are drugged is astronomical. There are prescription anti-depressants, yes, but there is also alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, and others. This is part of the reason why I am not very hopeful that calamity can be avoided. There are too few people that are not drugged into oblivion. The problems at hand are going to require clarity of mind and hard work to overcome. It's almost impossible to do that when your faculties are inhibited.
