Survival = growth/protection
I don't know how he got that. The equation should have looked like:
growth = 1/protection. Survival doesn't even enter that equation, so I don't know why he stuck it in there.

There's another lecture he gives with a friend of his where they get into altering the subconscious from the subconscious, because you can't change a subconscious thought pattern with a conscious one, you can only block it, which requires constant effort or heavy medication, which are the entire focus of the psych profession these days. These do not change the thought patterns or achieve change. They just bury it for the time being. I'll try to dig it this presentation up.
Personally, I'm a student of Richard Bandler and John Grinder. I have a Grinder lecture on "Achieving Human Excellence" that I will post over the weekend. Powerful stuff. The freedom he exhibits when playing with ideas is very impressive. A lot of fun! Their technique and approach is similar to the one Lipton's friend uses ... tho Bandler and Grinder are a bit more formal in their methodology.
