FREEDOM!

Meaning that I occasionally play the lottery. I'll plunk down a dollar every now and then when the jackpot is really high. I know the chances of me winning are nil, but I derive satisfaction from daydreaming about taking a lump sum and never paying income taxes again, so I get some utility from the dollar spent. Does anybody else here ever voluntarily give the government money?

No. But I've thought that an underground, electronic lottery would be really sweet for the liberty movement.

I wonder if technology similar to bit-coin could facilitate this?

I'm sure it could, and if it survives long enough I fully expect it to.

Yes.  There already are underground bitcoin lotteries and betting games.  There are not many people who are participating in them yet, but they are there.  The largest jackpot I've seen was several hundred bitcoins, which is on the order of thousands of dollars.  Small, but then your chances of winning are also a lot higher.  Smiley

Haha, I like the thread title. I don't play the lottery though.

When is somebody going to start peddling cigarettes in New Hampshire that have little golden dollar signs on them?

Ha ha, I think the problem with that would be that most people don't carry gold on them and it's not divisible enough with today's prices.  Hmmm, what about digital gold...bitcoins?   ;-)
