because it "hurts the ability of clubs and musicians to make a profit." I loved listing to the street musicians, many of whom were anarchist or had anarchist outlooks. I think its illegal because it challenges our societies norms, "you can't make money without demanding payment".

Anarcho Communists are usually rich kids. That doesn't mean the philosophy is wrong, but that has been my experience.

That has to be the dumbest reason to ban it as well. How often are you going to a concert to see a band you love and instead decide not to just to listen to some guy playing guitar on the street?

Dumb indeed. In reality it's just plain old social engineering. They don't want to rule over a town where people are begging in the public squares.

I haven't met many "rich" communists besides crimethINC type life style idiots, who will grow up in a few years, or become deeper in theory and leave crimethINC

Agreed, plus the obvious... musicians can't really be hurt by street musicians because street musicians are (working) musicians... It's just a different type of venue. Street musicians also aren't gonna hurt clubs because they generally don't have a mini bar in their back pocket to sell booze out of.
I find the banning of street musicians quite sad because I grew up in Santa Cruz, CA where they were very common and I loved listening to many of them. I would often sit and watch them for a few songs and then leave 5 dollar tip and I'm sure that was not uncommon. I think good musicians that play on the street (especially in tourist destinations) can really make a decent living and most of them love playing music all day in the fresh air.
I just have to mention this guy because I saw him a couple times on the streets of Santa Cruz and it always blew my mind and made my day, he's really amazing especially in person.
