Poseidon's army is actually maid of Ocean Nyads, sea serpents, foam horses and troglydites, mermaids come from Celtic myth. The original Mermaids chaotic neutral, they were like Leprechauns hated by the faerie elite but they weren't killed because they gave them humans to eat.
