I don't see Iran as an isolationist country like North Korea.

It's not. It's been a continuous U.S. effort to isolate Iran. That's why they're making oil trades in gold now, because the U.S. has put "sanctions" on them to stop them from using the international money transfer systems.

To balance out the epic praise of Dear Leader and Eternal President, I offer this article:

Very interesting article about the recent trip by Bill Richardson, Eric Schmidt and his daughter Sophie, to the "Republic" of North Korea.

4  General Category / General Discussion / Re: New Hampshire property taxes... on: January 21, 2013, 09:05:02 AM
I really think an income tax would be better for liberty activists.  That's so much easier to deal with.  Anyway, rant over.

Sadly, no. Where is an income tax used in place of a property tax? Nowhere. Instead, the poor beleaguered taxpayer ends up with BOTH.

Interesting arguments in regards to incentives for production, and not extortion.

The old argument that no anarchy has lasted for long comes to mind.

It's only recently that truly effective self defense tools were invented, and technology continually improves the killing ability of smaller and smaller packages.

It is possible that the next stateless enclave might be able to defend itself from predation by surrounding states. Even Somalia was able to hold off the world for 10 years.
6  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Texas begins process of protecting 2nd amendment rights on: January 15, 2013, 09:17:56 AM
Don't be surprised. Texas, for all its much professed "liberty", is actually quite anti-gun-owner and pro-cop.

Sadly, the economically ignorant are SO ignorant that they think they know what they're talking about.

He'd better be, considering the shooting range built into Brangelina's house in southern France.

I have discussed principles on a Democrat web site.

Sadly, the actor himself participated in the "Demand A Plan" gun ban commercial.

Well this gives some additional hope. I assume New Hampshire will follow accordingly?

The first thing the new Democrat majority in the New Hampshire legislature did was ban CCW from the state-house.
12  Questions And Challenges / Questions About Anarcho-Capitalism / Re: Global Warming on: January 10, 2013, 09:19:00 AM
Would I like the human race to survive and prosper?    Not if we don't deserve it, no.

Well said.

And to add another serious, non-speculative note to this discussion, even if humans make the world unfit for humanity, life will continue.

Over the next couple of centuries, if AGW does occur, or for that matter if the world goes into the next ice age, there will be great demand to get our genes OFF THIS ROCK and out into space where intellect can really ensure survival.
13  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Producer of FPSRussia found dead on: January 10, 2013, 09:15:16 AM
The producer is dead, not the actual person you see in the videos.

Oh! Ok, yes, that is what was said, jumped to conclusions.

My statement stands, however.

I take great comfort in the completely arbitrary nature of the universe.

If I believed in a benevolent power, then I would have to also believe that, somehow, people deserve what happens to them.

....and nobody deserves that.

taking the time is the secret ingredient.

It is.

In the end, it's the only thing that really matters.

If you trace it down further, you'll find it costs anyone who holds US dollars.
