Kidding aside; that is why I no longer read, watch, or listen to the NEWS. Statist 'elitists' indoctrinated, by their elite of the elite preparatory schools and such, to be the managers of the hapless masses, will always do and say things which would get me angry; so to avoid getting angry, I just don't listen to them. These people are also the reason I spent most of my life preparing to opt out of their slave system, which five years ago I finally did just that.

Sorry I couldn't get back to you earlier; I've been busy. I, however, have been thinking about your question, and I wanted to write something short and to the point, as not to ramble on for too long; so here it is. I bought property outright, and cut off as much of my dependencies of society as possible, thereby limiting how much I would have to work to pay my bills. I looked to Sepp Holzer's Permaculture book, and what was written of early Pennsylvanian agriculture methods before Ben Franklin forced them to change to the English modern farming method. I grow most of my own food and raise sever kinds of animals; I sell some of the stuff at a roadside stand. I also sell, firewood, compost, mulch and a myriad of other things. I go to craft fairs and two weekends a month I rent space at a local flea market. I do custom woodworking and metal working projects; but I also do some computer work as well, and mechanic work on older vehicles and tractors. I will build or re-purpose anything. I got into couponing and dumpster diving nearly ten years ago to save money; I still do this to some extent and then sell the products which I don't use.
After five plus years of permaculturing the way I've devised, I don't have to put nearly any work into it much any-more; therefore I have more time to spend doing other things. What I'm working on now, is to supply my property with more electric capabilities; I have a bare minimum of what I need, but maybe by next summer or at the end of next year I will have double what I have now.
The only things I really pay for in the outside slave world, is: property tax, school tax, internet, and some tools, materials, and some gas and diesel fuel. I've limited the amount of gas and diesel I use by making bio-gas, and bio-diesel; but I am unable to supply as much as I use, so I am force to buy some.
What I've come to realise is that if one only does one job, it is harder to earn the amount required to live on without drawing suspicion to ones self; however, if one is capable of doing multiple different kinds of jobs, then it is far easier to go unnoticed. If one has to take out advertisements for their activities just to be able to get the work needed to survive, then ones business becomes far to noticeable. However, by relying on multiple revenue streams and no advertising other than word of mouth, it makes it far more easy to be unnoticed and one is therefore not harassed by government goons.
Anyway, I tried to keep it short; I've left out a whole bunch of stuff, but I hope it gives you an idea of what I'm basically doing. Maybe you can use some to help yourself, and maybe you can't.
I suppose the basic premise is, to acquire as many skills as possible to enable oneself to be self dependent or independent. If one allows oneself to be dependent on government or society, then government or society will hold dominion over ones actions and abilities to act upon ones own wishes and desires. As one becomes more greatly independent, then one notices a lessening of power in the hands of society and government; for when one is independent then one is no longer in the dominion of either society or government and at which point one becomes truly free.
