Questions about New Hampshire
«

1. What good universities/colleges are in the FSP area? That is something I will have to think about in the next few years, and I have a great value state school where I live (NJ). I *may* want to live and work in New Hampshire afterwards, and going to school in the area would help me with networking and stuff (right?).
2. How is the economy there? Like, are there dominant industries in your area? High/low unemployment? How expensive is the cost of living?
3. How is the music scene, like live bands? As I said, I live in New Jersey, and the music scene is pretty lively. I've made most of my money (which is not a lot) playing drums for various live gigs, and I take music as a very serious hobby. Are there any opportunities like that - perhaps recording background music for various anarchist radio shows?
4. How much of a "community" is it where you live: do you know your neighbors well and help each other out? Or is it more of a live and let live scenario, where you won't call the cops on them for growing plants, but don't know them particularly well?
That's all I got for now. I look forward to reading your experiences.

There is Dartmouth, which is Ivy League. Then there is the University of New Hampshire and a bunch of other community colleges and private colleges.
The economy here is great. Certain areas are slumpier than others, but if you want a job, you shouldn't have any trouble finding one.
I don't pay any attention to the music scene.
I lived in Manchester and it's bleck.
I live in a small town now and everybody knows everybody.
Also, New Jersey sucks! Escape while you still can!

And out of my league. I'll look into the others though.

Are there mostly small businesses, or do some larger corporations have offices there too? Is there a lot of "white collar" work?

It is actually a very nice area -beaches for the summer, snow in the winter, driving distance of two major cities, no natural disasters (tornadoes, tidal waves etc.), mountains, hills, farmland... The worst part about the state is the "State" - it was ranked 48th most free, if I remember, only behind California and New York.
Thanks for your help. I know you've lived there a while.

I've heard it has a pretty big tech industry.

I'm a software programmer and I double my pay when I moved here. I heard on Free Talk Live that CNC machinists are in big demand as there is a lot of manufacturing here (apparently).
Don't really care much for colleges, personally so I don't know about that.
Community is alright. I've made some friends and bumped into a few libertarian types on accident. Guy I work with turned out to be one as well as the owners son who left the company and bought a house on a mountain to prep for SHTF. Going on walks around the apartment complex turned up a few liberty oriented bumper stickers like end the fed, free state project, gadsden flag, etc. So I have a better feeling of being around more people who agree with me than I did in Florida or North Dakota.
You should definitely make the move but try to avoid Manchester as it is ghetto. I'm in Nashua right on the Mass line and its nicer here.

So is the Free State Project/Libertarian/small government crowd there pretty big? Is it noticeably growing? Is there a network that you keep in touch with or have you kept to yourselves.
I've thought about moving there but I'd like to know the FSP/Libertarian locals and where they're at, build a network, and have connections by the time I get there.

This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back.
You take the blue pill- the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe.
You take the red pill- you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

FreeStateProject.org
FreeManch.com
FreeKeene.com
ShireSociety.org
Porcfest.com
Youtube channels RidleyReport, FreeKeeneTV, FreeConcord, and lots of individuals.
Innumerable Google+ and Facebook groups, including FreeStateProject, Porcupines, Free State Project Welcome Wagon, Society of Libertarian Entrepreneurs, and so on. One good reason for making a minimalistic Facebook account with lots of false information. Not that I would do such a thing. Nope.
There's also a Porcupine Calendar events listing somewhere, but it's sort of new and I don't know the URL. But I know people will, if you ask around.
